Bead making!Bead making!Inspired by 20th Century artBead making!Bead making!Bead making!Perhaps it's because I have been bursting inside me all year round. There's just been so many different things I wanted to make, experiment with, paint, do. But they all had to wait because Post-grad came first. Boring! Well, now that school's out, I've been making things with my hands like crazy. It's almost like they've taken over my life completely and I've been making, making, making! I've been knitting, sewing, dyeing, painting, drawing, collaging, baking, cooking, and most recently, rolling and carving beads! In an ideal world, I'd love to be doing some marling, as well as screen printing, and ceramics. But well, that'll have to wait. Need extra hands! So yes, let's get back to the topic of bead making...

It's been an idea I've had floating around my head for a while but never got round to it. I used to make lots of tacky jewellery when I was in high school. Thank goodness I don't make them these days, your eyes might bleed if you see them. Haha. They were all made from wires, with found and collected beads, sometimes seashells too. Very scrapbook crafty style, very 2000, very ugly. So, fast forward to a few days ago when I scored this great pack of pastel clay from the art store. I went home as fast as I could and since then, along with inspiration pictures of 20th Century and contemporary artworks  it's been rolling, rolling, rolling!Coming soon to www.handmadelove.bigcartel.comComing soon to www.handmadelove.bigcartel.comI'm so addicted and can't stop. I went on rolling and carving beads yesterday for 9 hours straight! I've been posting pictures up on instagram and it's really nice that everyone's so encouraging. I truly appreciate it. A couple have even emailed, messaged me to ask if they can purchase the necklaces. I've been refining the necklaces more and am glad to say, I'll be selling some soon on my online shop. Still working on little bits like the string. Can't quite decide if I like the Baker's Twine yet. I'm not interested in using silver chains as I would prefer a raw, organic look. So still looking, experimenting. Stay tuned! xo
