I spent the whole of yesterday sewing (well, more picking and unpicking than sewing really) and look what I made. My very first top, ever! Thanks to Jenny's easy to follow, step by step pattern, tons of trial and error and plenty of encouragement from Instagram. I almost died realising after posting this happy picture, that I've sewn everything wrong side up. So I had to unpick everything and go back to square one. Haha. But yes, I did it in the end! I wore it right after I made it, along with my necklaces from Bonnie and Jen. I made dinner while wearing my new top. You see, I totally doubted my sewing skills, so I had to test-drive the top, in case I wore it out and the seams came apart! Now that would be a scene wouldn't it. Long story short, the top withstood my crazy mutli-tasking cooking session + lazing around on the couch. Phew!
It's such an awesome feeling knowing I can now make myself a top. Even if it means I see my cupboard being filled up with more wiksten tops in different patterned fabric, because this is probably the only pattern I dare stick with. Still, the fact that I now know I can combine two pieces of fabric and wear it out without each piece falling off, that to me is a bit of deal. Well, off to order some Wiksten fabric here. I'm going to attempt making a dress version of this top when the fabric arrives!
