Hooray! My Giant carrot is finally up over at the amazing
After Store! Despite accidentally straining my back (Ouch!) while carrying my carrot down 8 flights of stairs, I am so thrilled everything came together. It seemed like a pretty easy task, to hang a flat cardboard carrot. But no, it definitely took way longer than expected! Haha. Thanks so much Phoebe for letting me invade your amazing store and of course, being so enthusiastic about a crazy artist's mad idea. My giant carrot wouldn't have happened if not for your love of crazy ideas. Haha. So thanks a ton Phoebe! I also want to extend my gratitude to the talented
Hamish Munro. If it wasn't for his super-power magnets, my carrot would not have stayed up. Hamish, you have cool knot tying skills - I should learn from you. Oh and people, Hamish also has a show on now at Pieces of Eight Gallery. I watched
this video of his exhibition the other night and I was truly blown away. Thanks too, Mandy for helping us straighten our carrot, and also loading us with hot chocs and coffees. Yum! Apart from the amazing Munro family super team, I'd also like to say a big thank you to the City of Melbourne for inviting me to be part of this year's
Look Stop Shop event. What a fun experience!
And so, after my many thank yous, my giant carrot's adventures have officially begun. I can't wait for it to bring on lots of smiles and laughter from both young and old. It always makes me smile knowing I can make work that will bring joy to others. It makes it all worth while.
Do pop down to check out not only my giant carrot, but also Phoebe's lovely store. Full of goodies in there! It's open on market days, so you could also do your groceries too. How convenient!
While you're there, feel free to take a photo or two and send it my way either via email (dawntanwenyi@gmail.com), instagram tag, Facebook tag, anything goes! Better still, if you could take a self-shot with part of the carrot as a background! I would so LOVE to see everyone's lovely happy smiles! If I receive enough smiley, carroty photos, I'll post them up all online and one lucky person will receive an A4 slice of the carrot post display. Can't wait to see all your photos. Thank you!
PS: Carrot's only up till end of the month. So not long, really. Perhaps you might like to visit this weekend? : )
